As someone who lives in a city 20 minutes away from Drammen i always wondered if people still joke about Drammen or if its more of a local regional thing. Needless to say i was not disappointed hehe.
Hehe my dad always pulled that joke when we drove thought Drammen as a kid

Very helpful for a student new to Oslo, thank you!
Glad to hear that ! 🙏
more of hidden gems in oslo please! i have lived in oslo for the past 4 years and have visited a few of these spots. however, i am not nearly close of discovering oslo and this video evokes the urge to explore the city i live in. thanks for the great tips and history lessons!
fun fact: Emanuel Vigeland made the door smaler, so you'll have to bow for him (or the urn) when you're entering the room
Aha, Thanks for that fun fact!
Great video!
Thanks!
Just returned from Oslo - I should have watched this before I went! I just walked around but next time I return this will be useful, especially taking the trams. Such a great city
Thank you! Nice that you had an enjoyable time. Welcome back
5:50, here is your one single hot dog. that'll be 97 NOK = $8 dollars thank you
hehe true Oslo is not cheap, but remember that the USD and EUR is very strong now. The krona is cheap, and inflation is everywhere
I don't understand how tourist can enjoy Norway, when someone can hardly buy anything here, even with a full time job. I just bought 4 pounds of spuds and two small beers. almost $15 at the cheapest store. It's gotten so insanely expensive these last years
It has gotten very expensive, but as I said my previous reply the NOK is very weak now, so for Americans for instance it's cheaper to come here than in a long time
A reminder to not take route 7 during the winter season even in May. I followed Google Maps and had to return due to road closer and column driving taking many hours. On my way back I choose E16 which was not covered with snow in March. Taking a reroute on snowy 52 road was fun but also risky. I prefer road 7 and 52 on summer or spring.
Sorry you had to experience those conditions. Note that May can be a very different month year to year. This year we had a lot of snow, but some years you can go in May in you'll have summer conditions. I have to admit I enjoy driving on road 7 even in the winter, but then again I am used to those conditions
Glad to see you here!!
Thanks :)
Bra episode Pål! 10k seere, drit bra. Stå på videre

Godt jobba!!
Takk!
Hi from the Philippines🎉 Tusen takk for the recipe Pål 😊. My Norwegian husband is always happy every time I cooked your meatballs recipe he said its tastes like his grandmother's meatballs ❤.
That's very nice to hear! Thank you :)
Hi there, How to be the Vigeland Sculpture Park from central station of oslo? Thanks.
Hi there, you can ride tram #12 Majorstuen. It stops right outside the park. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot🤝
@@user-im6if6zp5q You are welcome :)
Was there a little while ago. Tip number 1: Check the cruise ship schedule, and avoid going when they are there. Totally ruins the vibe.
Actually just been and done this, was amazing! Uploaded a video of the experience if anyone needs more inspo 🐟
When do the waterfalls thaw after winter? I’d like to go early in the year to avoid crowds, but want to see the waterfalls flowing. Thank you for the great video.
Thats imposssible to say especially as the climate is changing more and more every year. But April/may ish is statistically a good time
Is the exact route in reverse available… Bergen to Oslo? If so, is there any difference in quality/enjoyment of trip? Thanks.
It would be exactly the same. Perhaps fewer people travelling Bergen to Oslo, especially on the fjord cruise, but one never knows
Thank you for your responses!
@@sonjaparker7840 You are welcome!
Your youtube page is very nice. :-)
Thank you :)
Can we do this in October - will the roads be too slippery or will it be fine?
There might be snow on the roads in October up in the mountains. So you need to be comfortable driving on snow.
Watching from Pakistan :)
Thanks :)
Nice video. You secretly answered a question of me: are Fjords saltwater or is the insane support of waterfalls enough to make it freshwater, salt smell way inland says it all. Planning a trip Around Norheimsund (got a friend there), but the more i look at norway the more i realize you cannot ever travel short and fast in norway, better to go only once and take 3 weeks, then 10 times 5 days i think. I like this video production (i still have to edit my Swiss footage, i hope it doenst suck, i can't view it yet since i need software to view 10 bit 4:2;2, a video container not widely supported (but couldnt resist since this is top notch quality). Also nice to see this road, i like video's like this, to know what to expect on roads (speed limit, how narrow, how often can you stop, the views etc).
Hey! Thanks for Watching the episode. I agree, a 3 week trip is ideal! The. You can cover quite a lot without having to rush too much. It helps a lot having a car of course, but Norway is also very accessible with public transportation 😎 good luck on your editing
Just watched my video's and they are insanely shaken en bumpy, even though i used in body stabilization and digital stabilization (camera). Maybe software can fix it, but doenst look good for now, perhaps the Sony A7R5 is to slow in readout speed after all (known for this), sadly ultra fast read out camera cost 3500€ (just video) or 5000€ (video, image, but older camera so no update video features). The more i see Norway the more i might have to drop my fetisch against drones. I'm sort of against drones as it's cheating, but it gives an overview rarely achievable with hiking. Hardergrat (Swiss) is amazing cause you ALWAYs have 360° view on top of the hill almost every second, Norway way to wild for this.
@@Matti6950 Software can often fix quite a lot, but I do use a gimbal if needed. Note that there are restrictions for flying a drone in Norway. www.visitnorway.com/plan-your-trip/drone-rules/
Thank you, Pål for your really great videos. I am currently in the middle of my family summer holiday planning. We will arrive in Oslo on a Friday at around midday. We will then take the night train to Bergen, where we will spend the weekend and subsequently start our staged journey back to Oslo with a rental EV with stops in the Hardangerfjord region and Rjukon. I already learned from another video of yours that we don’t need to keep the rental car for our stay in Oslo because of the very good public traffic system. From your Bergen video it appears that we would actually be well advised renting the vehicle only from the point in time when we leave Bergen and return it once we arrive in Oslo, because there is actually no need or even use for a car in either of these cities, right? Appreciate your short response. Cheers, Urs
Thanks for watching! Yep you are right, no need for a car in Oslo/Bergen. Just use public transportation 👍 have a nice trip
Thanks for this beautiful and enlightening video. Here is my question. Can we take bus from Gudvangen directly to Bergen without change vehicle at Voss? Do you recommend line NW420 (Gudvangen to Bergen directly)
Hi there, thanks for watching! Yes if you can find a NW420 bus that corresponds with the fjord ferry I would recommend that. It's just easier than having to transfer to a train in Voss. Feel free to book the bus ticket here: tc.tradetracker.net/?c=31494&m=12&a=419475&r=&u=%2F (affiliate link) Thank you!
Thank you for your quick and helpful answer. You are too kind. We are planning to start our NIN journey from Bergen to Flam, hopefully. And as you say, if time schedule of arrival and departure from Gudvangen kai correspond each other it will be more efficient.
@@merveyalcn6851 Aha, well the bus also works well in that direction. Enjoy the journey!
Great video! I have been to Oslo before but I’m attending a concert by Oslo philharmonic this Friday, good to know these options! Best regards from Edinburgh😊 PS: if you happen to read this - I have a bit time on sat morning wonder if it’s worth a trip to Vestkanttorvet? I like to visit flea antique markets in foreign cities. Thanks!
Thank you! I hope you'll enjoy the concert. I think the Vestkanttorvet is well worth it if you are into flea antique markets :)
Many thanks!
Can tourist tap their credit card in those Trums/trikks to pay for the ride ?
Nope, we don’t have that system here
I will be travelling to Norway soon. And was following your videos. They are just great! Very helpful. May not be able to make it to Flam this time, but this entire route looks fascinating. Thank you!
Thank you! Enjoy your trip to Norway 🇳🇴😎
I will be travelling to Norway soon. And was following your videos. They are just great! Very helpful. May not be able to make it to Flam this time, but this entire route looks fascinating. Thank you!
amazing! When was this filmed? And would the weather be similar if I decide to visit in late December? Thanks!
It was filmed in February, I have no idea what the weather will be like in December. The weather is more and more unpredictable every year due to global warming
thanks for the reply! It would be nice to spend my christmas in Scandinavia, hopefully the weather will be tolerable
@@elecow17 I hope so! But remember, there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing ;)
Hei! Are the trains and trikk operational all day and night? In October my son and I are going to Oslo and we want to see the forests but want to ensure we have a way back to the hotel if we're out late! October forests in Norway seems COLD to spend that night! lol
I meant the Metro, you mentioned that the Metro went out to forrested areas.
Hei hei! They run until late, but use the ruter app to find schedule, then you know when to catch the last one back home :)
I’m eating at that Harralds Vaffels right now as you recommended. ✌️😊
Great! I hope you liked it
Yes it was fantastic with the brown cheese and everything.
@@TransCanadaPhil wonderful!
I’ve been in Oslo for 4 days and tomorrow I pick up my rental car tomorrow morning at 9. I’m driving to Aurland with a stop at that Kistofos museum you mentioned. I have countryside hostel booked in the Aurland area, I think I’ve planned it with enough time so I won’t be rushed. Do you think so?
@@TransCanadaPhil That sounds like the perfect day! Enjoy Kistefos and Aurland
This is a really nice video, and very very informative. I was wondering if this trip will be doable in the beginning of January? Also I do have one night I can spend, was wondering if I should do just Oslo-Voss-Oslo, or make my way all the way to bergen spend a night and back the next day to Oslo?
Thank you! Yes providing the winter is not too cold and the fjord might freeze, but it does not happen so often anymore. If you can leave a bit late out of Bergen the day after it can be worth spending a night there I think
Send me some brunost please.
Thank you Pal for your informative videos! Your videos have helped the 3 of us with our travel plans for Oslo/Bergen/Flam which is happening in a few weeks time, very excited. Do you have any suggestions where we can securely store our larger luggage items in Oslo while we take our trip to Bergen/Flam for a few days?
Hi you welcome! There is luggage storage at the Central Station in Oslo 👍
Hii, I am from India. Nice informative video. Would like to know about, how many places we can see in Oslo in a day ?
Thank you! That really depends on your stamina, and which places you choose/how far away they are from each other :)
Thank you for your helpful video! I am planning a road trip in less than a month from Oslo to Bergen. I can't wait for the experience. It looks amazing.
You Are welcome! Enjoy the trip 👊
Thanks!
Tusen takk! ❤️

Thank you! I’m sure you will 👊
Thank you for the video! From Oslo to Flam, on which side of the train should i sit for the best views?
You are welcome! I think the left side is slightly better
Do you see the beautiful scenery in December/Winter on Norway in a Nutshell journey?
Yes most likely you’ll see plenty of snow up in the mountain, but it depends on how cold the winter has been
I just got back from Bergen and took the train to Oslo. Next time, I think I'll rent a car to drive like you did, or maybe even head further north.
Sounds like a good plan!
